Packing Moves To Overdrive

We have been looking for a new place to live for a few weeks now due to our current landlords’ decision to evict us with “No Grounds” after a couple of issues with the house. The notice has simply brought forward our hunt. We were keen to remain in the area as we love the place and have begun making connections. We have now secured a property within 10 minutes walk. The new property is cheaper and a single level, good for the Mum’s as stairs are no longer their friends. A win all around. We sign the papers on Friday and move in across the weekend. Packing had already begun, but now we are moving into overdrive.

  1. Is there a law in Australia that allows for the landlord to kick you out without notice? I find this very strange, you should have some sort of protection or something. Well sounds like you’re happy with the move atleast.

  2. This is one of the reasons why I dislike renting. I am lucky in that I have been renting the same place for a while, but it still is unnerving to know that they can decide to boot you out whenever it suits them. Even with 90 days notice, it’s the inconvenience of having to find a new home, all the packing and unpacking etc.
