Happy New Year
Although late I thought I best wish everyone a Happy New Year. We ushered in 2008 by spending the day playing in the sun and water at Brighton le Sands beach with the family. The day was warm but not hot, the water was war, and it was dry. The day was a great family day with the crowd being well behaved and the fireworks at 9pm going off. One thing about being at Brighton for the early fireworks is that you can see the fireworks at Cronulla and the city.
After the fireworks at 9 pm we made our way back to the house. The house was warm due to being locked up all day. Hence, one of the first things that happened was our portable air conditioner was turned on. We then settled back eating nibblies and getting stuck into the beers. We watched the Sydney midnight firework and then kicked on to about 2 am. There are some great photos of the Midnight Fireworks at iServ.com.au. As is typical we had to keep the nieces awake until midnight then they both got their second winds … ironic isn’t it.
So we were all asleep by 3 am. I slept like a baby for the first time in ages. Slept in to about 10 am and then spent the day pottering about. Been a slow but enjoyable start to 2008. A year that is full of promise.
We are looking to move to Wollongong and begin the 30 odd years of debt with a mortgage. It will be great to get a place that is truly our own. We can then break out of container gardening, although I suspect we will keep a number of our plants in that manner post move.
We are also looking to buy a new Holden VE Sportswagon to replace the Holden Commodore VS Executive and the Holden Barina City. Both existing Holdens have proven faithful and trustworthy over many years, however now is the time to upgrade. It will be good for Socko aswell who has never enjoyed that brand new car smell within her own vehicle.
So what is my new years resolution for 2008? Well I have a few:
- Get my butt in gear and get all the prerequisites for the home loan completed.
- The second is to get fitter.
- Stop sweating the petty things, although I will still pet the sweaty things.
So once again Happy New Year all and lets make 2008 a good one!
