NSW State Election

Today is the NSW State Election day and I am still to find a compelling reason to vote either way. Both parties seem as much of a muchness in a lot of ways in terms of promises. For example, the Liberals will recycle Sydneys water effluent, whilst Labour offer to build a desalinization plant, the common goal is to guarantee Sydneys water. Overall, neither side has convinced me they deserve to serve the NSW people.

I think I may lodge a protest vote and cast a vote for an Independent. Independents are largely useless parliamentarians. However, they send a message to the major parties that they are failing the electorate that puts the Independent in the seat.

Who do I think will win? I agree with the polls that Labour will be returned to power. It will be a case of better the devil you know, than the one in the budgie smugglers. That was an electioneering clanger, and I implore the Liberal party to ensure campaigning leaders never be photographed in them again. Also, a great majority of people do not distinguish between Federal and State, and with the recent Howard government woes it will have a negative impact on the NSW campaign.
